On 19 September 2018, Kalam Centre hosted an online lecture by Professor Charles Cockell of the University of Edinburgh, UK. His lecture ‘From Yorkshire to Mars: The Search for Life in the Universe’ was broadcasted live from the Boulby Mine in Whitby, UK. It was an informative session on how a deep salt mine in Yorkshire has been used to hunt for extreme life, test rovers, test NASA instruments, contribute to the training of European astronauts, and advance the Indian space program.
This was followed by a live chat with Srijan Pal Singh and Professor Charles Cockell where students got the chance to get the answers to their questions. More than 10,000 people including students from the AKTU ecosystem were glued in for online viewing and the interactive session on the Facebook page of Kalam Centre. The video of the chat could also found here.
