Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre was established in 2015 after the demise of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (1931-2015), the 11th President of India and the country’s most acclaimed scientist. Kalam Centre aims to promote innovations, especially in governance and social enterprises, improve youth participation in national and international development and improve access to education and knowledge in all strata of the society. The Board Members and Advisors of the Centre has several senior government functionaries and experts. It operates across India, with six different offices, besides 83 free public libraries and a network of over 100,000 volunteers.
